About Russ
Russ Mattson was born and brought up in New England, attended
public school and two years at Saunders, majoring in electronic
theory.
He
started his career in electronics with a position as field engineer
with Thermatron Electronics. Russ soon moved up and was promoted to
sales, covering the Northeast United States and the Caribbean
Islands. The company had plants in New York, England, LA, and
Holland. Russ did a lot of traveling for seven years and found
himself on vacation on Sanibel Island. That was enough for him, he
fell in love with the area. He soon left his job in the cold north
and started a new career as the manager of Sanibel Marina. That led
to lots of fishing, boating and sailing. Mattson soon got his
captain’s license and got involved in chartering and lots of
sailboat racing. The management of the marina led to obtaining a
long term lease and forming a boat dealership on Sanibel. Russ
received an offer to buy out his lease and moved the dealership to
Pine
Island in 1984. All these years Russ had been a successful
motorcycle racer and when he wasn’t competing in a sailboat race he
was on the road, traveling the AMA Pro motorcycle circuit. His many
podium finishes led to the National 600cc Championship in 1994. His
boat dealership flourished thru these years. Mattson sold his
dealership in 2004 and started a new career in real estate.
Russ’ 40 years of experience selling and dealing with customers
has helped him blend quickly into the world of real estate.
His tenacity on the race tracks, over the years and "will to
succeed" have given him a strong edge over his competition.
When Russ isn’t working for his clients, which is mostly 10/7 at
Islander Realty he spends time with
his teenage daughter fishing and golfing. Throughout these years
Russ has met hundreds of wonderful people and made a lot great
friends in SW Florida. His connections, local knowledge and passion
to succeed make him the ideal choice to be your Realtor.
